Jorge Bischoff products: high-grade raw materials deserve special attention
The Jorge Bischoff products are made using exclusive raw materials, with high-grade finishes, which require special maintenance care. Get to know the characteristics of each material and learn how to prevent wear and tear, and preserve the original look of your product for a longer period of time:
Leather products in general: products made of animal hides and skins need special care. Incorrect procedures may weaken the fibers, thus breaking down or peeling off the leather finish.
Hair-on leather: hair-on leather may have color variations. This is a natural characteristic, which evidences its genuineness. This material is sensitive to friction – friction can cause the fall of hair. To clean it, use a slightly dampened cloth, moving it gently in the direction of the hair, without rubbing it.
Metalized items in general: metallic-looking leather has particularly delicate features. It is sensitive to abrasion and undergoes a natural color fading process, which is not to be considered a defect, but rather a natural characteristic of the material. To get its metallic appearance, the leather receives a metallic microporous film, susceptible to scratches and friction, and may therefore peel off or tarnish – conditions that are irreversible in this kind of lamination. The sweat of the foot or the use of moisturizers can also cause these types of damages in materials with metallic finish (especially on insoles). Avoid wearing footwear with this kind of material while driving. When storing your shoes, separate them with a paper partition to prevent friction (with bags and acessories, proceed in the same way, separating them). To clean these products, use a dry flannel, avoiding movements that cause pressure over the piece.
Smooth or metalized leather with a dull/worn-out look: these effects on the leather are obtained through elaborate craftsmanship. Therefore, there may be variations in shades. To clean it, use a dry flannel.
Nubuck, suede and rough suede: velvety-looking raw materials have delicate hues, which may cause colors to transfer to clothes or other items. The material has low solidity in the light, that is, it can lose the intensity of the color if exposed to direct sunlight for a long time. To clean them, use a soft-bristle brush.
Digitally-printed leather: avoid friction, as the material may naturally wear out. To clean it, use a slightly dampened cloth.
Patent: products made of patent can stain when in contact with other materials and colors, this is a characteristic of the material and not a defect in the quality process. Avoid contact between items of different colors, because colors can migrate from one piece to another. Keep them in the original packaging. In the case of shoes, separate the pair with a paper dividing, isolating the ornament. For cleaning, use a cloth lightly dampened with water.
Fabrics: these materials are particularly sensitive to moisture. To clean them, use a slightly dampened brush and neutral soap. Let them dry in the shade.
Metal items and stones: metal plates, stones and other ornaments require special care. In case of friction or impact, they may get scratched, have their tips broken off, get damaged, or even fall off.
Always keep your products in a well-ventilated and moisture-free place. Stuff closed shoes with paper to retain their original shape. Scratches on the outsole or on the heel are considered natural shoe wear and tear due to friction during wearing.
Wear a different pair of shoes on alternate days, thus allowing the leather to breathe so as to keep the quality and original shape of the product. In order to prevent stains, do not let the product come in contact with fatty or greasy substances, and keep light-colored items away from bright-colored products. Products containing natural hair should not be subjected to friction, otherwise they may wear out or their hair may even fall off.
